    Introduction

    An overview of a proven treatment model & its 5 Core Measures. Discover how to utilize course skills to gain confidence & put new knowledge to work in the field immediately with your patients with special needs. (Applicable diagnoses include prematurity, brachial plexus injuries, cerebral palsy, NAS, and Austism.)(35 min.)
  • MODULE 2

    Protect Sleep

    Discover why sleep is crucial for brain development. Learn to coach families on establishing healthy sleep schedules. Access parent tools and resources to foster good sleep hygiene. (45 min.)
  • MODULE 3

    Manage Pain & Stress

    Discover the detrimental effects pain & stress have on child development. Learn coaching techniques to help parents assess & manage stress, promoting ease with ADLs and therapeutic activities. Custom handouts and video demonstration included. (1 hr. 40 min.)
  • MODULE 4

    Daily Living Activities

    Uncover specific components of ADL's within the birth to 5 population. Boost your skills to coach parents to address positioning, skin integrity and feeding of their child. Custom handouts and video demonstration included. (1 hr. 30 min.)
  • MODULE 5

    Family-Centered Care

    Identify the key concepts of Family-Centered Care. Learn to build a partnership with your families to promote success for your patient. Custom handouts included. (20 min.)
  • MODULE 6

    Healing Environments

    Analyze the 5 components of a healing environment & their role in promoting sensory development. Learn to coach parents on creating a natural environment for successful eating, bathing, dressing, play, and sleep. Custom handouts and video demonstrations included. (43 min.)
  • MODULE 7

    Put it Together

    Review of the 5 core measures, goals and focus tasks & application strategies including a simple scale that will help you document functional improvement. (15 min.)

Is this course approved for continuing education?
This course is approved for 0.6 AOTA CEUs, .55 ASHA CEUs, and 6.0 contact hours by multiple PT state boards. Contact Laura at admin@pediatrictheratools.com with any questions concerning contact hour approval.
Are there prerequisites for this course?
No. This is an introductory level course.
How is this course taught?
This is a Distance Learning - Independent course. This course uses PowerPoint, trainer explanation/examples, and videos as teaching methods.
What is required for completion of this course?
* All course completion requirements must be met within the 6 month deadline. * You must be logged in under your unique username and password. * Watch each module in its entirety. * Pass a 15 question multiple choice post test with at least 100% accuracy. (Unlimited retakes allowed.) * Complete a post course survey to receive a completion certificate.
How long do I have access to this course?
After enrolling in the course, you have 6 months to complete the course and receive your certificate. You get to download and keep all handouts provided!
What is the cancellation policy?
A written request must be made within 30 days of purchase if no more than 3 modules have been completed. Email admin@pediatrictheratools.com to request a refund. There is no option to cancel after the 30 day, 3 module limit has been exceeded. If the course is canceled by the provider before the 6 month access, the learner will receive a full refund.

Laura R. Barnhart, OTR/L, CNT, CIIT, is a practicing Occupational Therapist and Certified Neonatal Therapist with over 20 years of experience in home health, out-patient and NICU settings. Her ongoing practice allows her stay relevant in the field and contribute to her teaching effectively.

Since 2014, she has traveled and trained pediatric healthcare professionals all over the United States. Additionally, Laura teaches and mentors international students, sharing her expertise and fostering global collaboration in pediatric healthcare.
